Jake and I spent most of the day together. We went to the childrens museum this morning and let me tell you the experience was completely different with a 5 year old boy than with his 2 year old sister! I could barely keep up with him, he was literally running in circles around me lol. After the museum he chose to go to Mels diner for lunch and while we were there his dad came in with a bunch of his coworkers (which was a nice surprise but did put a little damper on his mood since daddy couldnt sit with us). But I really wanted to post about todays outing because it was just so pleasant. It truly was the nicest, funnest time Ive had with Jake in a long, long while. We’ve had a rocky relationship from the get-go really and any good moments I get from him I snatch up because they really are few and far between. I had so much fun with him today and I could tell he was having fun too. He also said some things that just tickled me….amongst some of the questions I fielded from him were: “Why are leaves so light” and “How do they make tires” When we were turning into the parking lot of the museum he was just so giddy with excitement to be there he said “I just love the childrens museum because you can touch everything and because its for children and because its a museum, you know?” I was a bit of a rule breaker at lunch and ordered him a hamburger with french fries. There was not a piece of fruit in sight! lol I just wanted him to have a fun lunch, seriously, and thought he’d be just fine to forgo the fruit just this once. (and in my defense, he did have an apple in the car that morning so…) I told him he could get a dessert and was reading him off his choices when he said, “Im going to order a chocolate milkshake, with two straws.” Because he wanted to share. These are the moments that make the kicks in the shins and the “I dont like yous” all worth it. We leaned over the glass and giggled and shared the milkshake. And then we went home and he snitched to his mom that I got him french fries and a chocolate milkshake. End scene.

How I Knew
Ive always felt deep down from a very young age that Im not going to live a long time. While driving today I started to think over this scenario as I have many times before but for the first time ever I was struck with saddness at the possibility. And thats how I knew that I was finally okay.

My Day: I did their breakfast dishes & cleaned the kitchen, fed the baby, took the baby to gym class (all before 9am). I did three loads of laundry, pureed fresh baby food, put away laundry, played with/snuggled/stimulated/enriched baby, fed baby two more times, did two naps & 5 diaper changes. Restocked diapers, wipes, reorganized diaper bag.
My Boss’ Day: Volunteered 30 mins. in her daughter’s kindergarten class, went to pilates class, out to lunch with her husband then they went together to Costco. She then came home, proclaimed that she was exhausted and went to her room and napped the rest of the afternoon.
…….im sitting under palm trees listening to the ocean. nothing can bother me. maui take me away….

Just saw this movie on netflix…did anyone else watch & rewatch this as a kid or was it just me???
